Nine shrines. One road. A god under the salt that has been drinking pilgrims' offerings for four hundred years. The Salt Pilgrims' Road is a complete, system-agnostic weird-fantasy vault set in the Kharzat, a white pan where water is sold by the mouthful and thirst is the state religion.

This pack gives you a full pilgrimage campaign in eleven files: Last Shade, the trailhead town where pilgrims are weighed and water is auctioned; the Shrine of the Salt Cup, a half-buried temple whose cistern is failing; and the Cup That Is Not There, the road's end, where a mirage river fills a stone mouth and salt-ghouls kneel in a ring. Four fully written NPCs — a shrine-warden who prices mercy, a Company factor with a pulse in his yield ledger, a pilgrim who has not drunk in forty days, and a lucid salt-ghoul who remembers her manners — arrive with flaws, secrets, three discovery paths each, paid quests, d20 mannerism tables, dialogue tables, and system-agnostic stat lines.

Inside you also get a d20 road-encounter table, a d20 loot table with silver prices, priced water and absolution tables for every shrine, faction goals, five campaign hooks, and an endgame that asks what a miracle is worth when the aquifer is also a patient.

  • 11 content files plus storefront metadata
  • 4 factions, 5 hooks, 3 detailed locations
  • Water economy in sp, from 1 cp a mouth to 2 sp a measure
  • Cross-linked WikiLinks for Obsidian
  • Compatible with OSR, d20, and rules-light systems

Written for tables that like their fantasy sun-bleached, transactional, and quietly wrong. Bring water. The road will tell you what it costs.

"You will be weighed before you are watered. The road does not care what you believe. The road cares what you carry."

1. The Cup-Stone That Answers. A thirst-stone stands beside the road, its hollow full of nothing. If the party pours a measure in, the stone drinks and then speaks — one word, in a voice like a dry well. The word is a name, and the name belongs to someone in the party, and it is not the name they use. If they do not pour, the stone waits. It will still be waiting when they come back, and the road will remember they passed.
2. The Water Auction. Four Company outriders have set up a folding table at mile 14 and are auctioning a single cask of water. Bidding starts at 30 sp. A pilgrim with nine days of thirst is bidding a wedding ring; a dry-nun is bidding a relic; a masked buyer is bidding clean Company silver and not speaking. The cask is real. The masked buyer is not buying water. See [[Location01LastShade]].
3. Face-Down at Mile 27. A pilgrim is lying face-down in the salt, breathing but not moving, a hard-vow cord knotted forty times at their wrist. They have three measures in their pack and will not drink them, because the vow says the water is for the ninth shrine. They will die in two hours without help. Giving them water breaks their vow; not giving it breaks them. Their name is Perrin Oul, and they are nineteen.
